General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.
The General Election is held near the midpoint of a four-year presidential term. Offices on the ballot include U.S. House & Senate, other state and local races, as well as ballot measures.
Who?
- All Eligible Voters: To be eligible to vote in Woodbury County, you must be registered. Election Day registration is permitted
What?
- General Midterm Election: Held near the midpoint of a four-year presidential term. Offices on the ballot include U.S. House & Senate, Governor, other state and local races, as well as ballot measures.
How?
- Beginning 8-25-2026: return your Absentee Request Form. Call 712-279-6465 if you would like to request a request form to be mailed.
- Ballots will be mailed beginning 10-14-26.
- Deadline to Return Request Form: Monday, 10-19-2026: 5:00p.
- Deadline to Return Voted Ballot: Must be received in our office by 8:00p on Election Day. (11-3-2026)

- In-Person Early Voting at the Auditor’s Office: Weekdays Oct. 14 through Nov 2, 2026: 8:00a - 4:30p, and Saturday Oct 31: 8a-4p.

- Election Day Voting at your assigned polling location (7:00a - 8:00p).
